| HIST | LARRY KIRBY Posted Tuesday, November 30, 2021 6:00 am Larry "Joe" Kirby, 72, loving husband of Patricia Powell "Pat" Kirby, died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Oct. 20, 1949, in Union, he was a son of the late William Woodrow Kirby and Lynette May Kirby. He attended Bethesda Church of God. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching wrestling matches, especially with his nephew and sidekick, Cody, watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team and spending time with his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Survivors include his wife of 28 years and 10 months; two children, Sarah Wilkes (Trent) of Rembert and Aaron Feldman (Rebecca) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Tal Wilkes, Logan Wilkes and Myers Wilkes, all of Rembert, and Jacob Feldman and Joshua Feldman, both of Sumter; two brothers, Robert Kirby (Janice) of Union and Jerry Kirby (Janice) of Stapleton, Nebraska; a sister, Lisa Teague (Terry Hodge) of Lexington, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, James "Jimmy" Kirby, William Woodrow "Junior" Kirby and Darlene Cheatham; a nephew, Robert Kirby; and a niece, Hannah Teague. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. H. Albert Sims and the Rev. Buddy Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Bethesda Church of God and other times at the home of his son, Aaron, 240 Keels Road, Sumter. The family requests all visitors follow recommended COVID-19 guidelines. Memorials may be made to Bethesda Church of God, 2730 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Kent Cunningham, Dr. Aaron Provisor and the staff of Jeanne C. Watson Oncology Unit and 5-South at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
