MADAN Posted Wednesday, July 6, 2016 6:00 am Peter Marion MaDan, 72, husband of Phyllis Newman MaDan, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at his home. Born on Jan. 24, 1944, in Asheboro, North Carolina, he was a son of the late John Melvin and May Blanche Marion MaDan. He owned and operated H&R Metal Products, until his retirement. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; three children, Kimberly MaDan Brunson of Summerton, Robin Sanders (Robert) of Darlington and Doug Barwick of Conway; a daughter-in-law, Denise W. Barwick of Darlington; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jon Ann Smith (George) of Sumter; a brother, Lynn Edwin MaDan (Beverly) of LaGrange, Georgia; mother-in-law, Roberta Newman of Sumter; brother-in-law, Chris Newman (Debbie) of Sumter; and his special canine buddy, Buck. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela MaDan Johnson. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 198 W. Wesmark Blvd. No. 2, Sumter, SC 29150. The family would like to express their appreciation to Amy Knowlton and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care.
