Posted Friday, January 12, 2018 2:00 am Leon Arnold Hamblin Sr., 84, husband of Florie Avin Hamblin, died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born in Boston, he was a son of the late George Henry and Iona Loretta Chisholm Hamblin. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Hamblin retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and member of American Legion Post 15. Following his military service, he worked for Huffman Corp. in Clover. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; six children, Linda Patrick Hamblin of Everett, Washington, Leon A. Hamblin Jr. (Kimberly) of York, Patricia Handberg of Mattawa, Washington, Ricky D. Hamblin (Patricia) of Clover, Kathy Cobb of Washington and Susan Tobler (Kevin) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; three stepchildren, Barbara Harris, Danny C. Welch (Debbie) and Jenny Welch, all of Sumter; 27 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Frasier officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church and other times at the home.
