Welch, 70, widower of Debra Odom Welch, died on Friday, May 27, 2022, at his home. Born on Feb. 22, 1952, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Carlisle Welch and Florie Avin Welch Hamblin. Mr. Welch graduated from the S.C. School for the Deaf and Blind and was active with the S.C. Commission for the Blind. He worked as a massage therapist and had a great love of music. Mr. Welch was an accomplished musician and enjoyed sharing this love with others. Survivors include a son, Daniel Welch (Kim) of Sumter; a stepdaughter, Pam Saverance (David) of Darlington; two sisters, Barbara Harris and Virginia Welch, both of Sumter; four grandchildren, D.J. Welch, Zachary Welch, Jazmyne Welch and Jonathan Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Fisher Welch and Colson Welch; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny C. Welch Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Moore and the Rev. Austin Hilbish officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be D.J. Welch, Zachary Welch, David Saverance, Robert Harris, Thomas Harrington and Joey Geddings. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorials may be sent to the S.C.
