| HIST | CELIA SUMMERS YOUNG CANTRELL Posted Tuesday, November 30, 2021 6:00 am Celia Summers Young Cantrell, 74, wife of Larry H. Cantrell, died on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Feb. 14, 1947, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Ollie and Katie Haltiwanger Summers. Mrs. Cantrell was an active member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church, where she enjoyed serving. She also enjoyed crafting and tending to her yard. Survivors in addition to her husband of Sumter include one daughter, Julie Orne (Bill) of Little Mountain; two grandchildren, Joshua Floyd (Sophie) and Summers Floyd; three sisters, Betty Westwood, Sybil Cousins and Sandra Bryant, all of Newberry; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriett Summers and Barbara Siokos; and one brother, O'Brien "Bill" Summers. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Northside Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Bishop and the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [1] | |
