Moore Lake City, SC Vernon Oneil Moore, 70, a retired executive vice-resident of Wachovia Bank, died Satureday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Lake City United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, will be in Moore Cemetery. Mr. Moore was born in Georgetown, a son of Clarence V. Moore and Ollie Brown Nettles Moore. He was a graduate of Lake City High School and Clemson University. He was a former member of Wachovia board of directors in Lake City. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Rotary Club. He was a member and trustee of Pergamos United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Agylee Floyd Moore. Surviving are five daughters, Susan M. Dickinson of Columbia, Sally M. Mouzon of Kingstree, Sheila M. Cribb of Lake View, Dr. Sharon M. Askins and Stacy M. Moore, both of Lake City; a son, Vernon O. Moore Jr. of Simpsonville: two sisters, Thelma M. Wllson of Lake City and Jacqueline M. McKenzie of Johnson City, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was 63 years old and married for over 40 years to Robert L. Dickinson, Jr. Visitation is from 11:30 - 1:30 on October 15, 2012 at Ashland United Methodist Church and will be followed by funeral services at 1:30. Following funeral services, a graveside service will be held at the Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery in Bishopville, SC at 4:00. Hancock, Elmore, Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville, SC is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashland Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Rd., Columbia, SC. 29210 or the S.C. Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Riverbanks Region Chapter, 602 Meeting St., W. Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Dickinson was raised in Lake City and was a daughter of the late Vernon Oneil Moore and Argylee Floyd Moore. She was a graduate of Lake City High School, Winthrop University and received her Masters of Education from the University of SC. She was a former Miss Lake City, Miss Santee Electric Co-op and Miss South Carolina Electric Co-op. Mrs. Dickinson retired from teaching in Columbia Public Schools after 29 years. She remained active after retirement substitute teaching in Lexington District 5. During her career she taught at Brookland Cayce Elementary, Brennen Elementary, Irmo Elementary and Harbison West Elementary. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year at Brennen and Harbison West. Mrs. Dickinson was an active member of Ashland United Methodist Church as well as the Cornerstone Sunday School Class and Sunshine Circle. She served as a Sunday school teacher and youth program counselor. Surviving are her devoted husband, Robert L. Dickinson, Jr.; beloved children, a son, Robert Oneil Dickinson and wife, Renee, of Mt. Pleasant and a daughter, Tracy Snyder and her husband, Marshal of Lugoff; and three cherished grandchildren, Gus and Ray Dickinson and Madison Lee Snyder and adored sisters Stacy Moore and Sharon Askins of Lake City; Sally Mouzon of Kingstree; and Sheila Cribb of Marion, and brother Vernon Moore of Simpson-ville and large extended family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Terry Smith, Mary, Kathy and the entire SC Oncology staff for their compassion and care.
