Pamela Jean Herzer, age 54, died on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Born in Selma, AL, she is the daughter of Rev. Charles Thomas McDonald and Shirley Ann Nunnally McDonald. Pam was a wonderful mother who sacrificed everything to make sure her daughter was loved and taken care of. She loved all animals, especially dogs. Pam will be remembered as a very loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Brittany Saracco and her wife, Allycia of Lexington, SC; a brother, Rodney McDonald and his wife Sonya of Rincon, GA; a grandson, Aiden Leadem; one niece, Samantha Cooler Lee and her husband Wesley; and three nephews, Shaun McDonald and his wife, Amy, Michael McDonald and his wife Kristin, and Dalton Cooler and his wife Camrey. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ron Taylor officiating. According to Lance Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 9:20 a.m. on State Route 441 (Peach Orchard Road) near Water Tower Road. This is less than a mile northwest of Shaw Air Force Base. Preliminary details suggest a 2008 Hyundai sedan was traveling south on Peach Orchard Road when the vehicle left the road to the right and hit a tree. The Sumter County Coroner, who later identified the driver as 54-year-old Pamela Herzer of Dalzell, said that she was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car in the accident. Herzer was the only person in the vehicle and died in the crash. Both the coroner's office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the crash. [1, 2] | |
