He was born Feb. 17. 1927, in Smyrna Township, the son of Harry E. and Bertha Curtis Adams. He was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy and a retiree of South Carolina National Bank. He was inducted into the Madison County, Ala. Hall of Heroes for valor during his Air Force service in South Carolina. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Adams; three sons, the Rev. Howard W. Adams of Monticello, Fla., David L. Adams of Huntsville, and Dennis R. Adams of Farmers Branch, Texas; one stepson, Terry Roth of Huntsville; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis; three brothers, Elmer, Ernie and Bill; and two sisters, Viola and Carolyn Sue. Services were Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at the Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel with burial at Sumter Cemetery. Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home of South Carolina was in charge of arrangements.
