LaRue H. Ferrell Cromer
LaRue H. Ferrell Cromer CAYCE - LaRue H. Ferrell Cromer, 92, formerly of Cayce, SC, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in White Oak Manor, Newberry, SC. She was born August 9, 1920, in New Brookland (West Columbia), SC. At the age of 18, she began her lifelong career in the textile industry with Mt. Vernon Mills from which she retired in 1982. She was baptized at First Baptist of West Columbia where her father was a founder and deacon. Upon her marriage to John Thomas Ferrell, she became a member of Cayce United Methodist Church. Until her declining health, she was an active member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Susanna Wesley Circle. For her outstanding service and devotion, she was awarded Life Membership into the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Cromer was predeceased by her parents, W. Alvin and Ella L. Hutchinson; sister, Mildred H. Walden; brothers, Wilbur A. Hutchinson and H. Haskell Hutchinson; husbands, John T. Ferrell and Alan E. Cromer; nephew, W. Hoyt Hutchinson; and niece, Jeanette C. Davis. Surviving are her nieces, Judy H. Bedenbaugh (Jeff Gerald) with whom she had resided since 2010, and Shirley H. Seeby; great-nephew, Scott A. Bedenbaugh (Christina T.); great-great nephew, Noah A. Bedenbaugh; great-great niece, Emma Catherine Bedenbaugh; and great-niece, Deborah D. Wessinger; other survivors are a stepdaughter, Peggy C. Bowers; stepgrandchildren, Alan Bowers and Charlene B. Cochran and their families. Mrs. Cromer's Christian committal service will be conducted by the Rev. Samuel K. Harmon, assisted by the Rev. Joseph R. James Jr., at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Columbia, SC. Visitation will take place immediately after the service and friends may pay their respects at Thompson Funeral home of West Columbia. It is requested there be no flowers.
