Elaine Poston Morris HEMINGWAY - Elaine Poston Morris, wife of Richard Ellison Morris Sr., died June 29, 2014, in McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. Mrs. Elaine was born in Hannah, SC, a daughter of the late Willard Clifton and Dorothy Daniels Poston. She was a graduate of the last class of the McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing in 1964 where she received her nursing degree. She began her nursing career as an office nurse with Dr. William L Coleman of Pamplico, SC. After several years as a public health nurse at the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, she launched her own business, Comprehensive Professional Rehabilitation, providing case management and expert testimony for workers compensation clients. She was a pioneer in her field and operated a very successful business for thirty-two years. She served on the Workers Compensation Kids Chance Board for over ten years. She was a very active member of Hemingway First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on numerous committees including the pastoral and building committees and in the formation of a church kitchen renovation committee. She was dedicated to her church as evidenced by her presence every time the doors were open. She did mission work in West Virginia for several years helping to repair homes for people in need. Mrs. Morris lived a rich and fulfilling life, surrounded by many dear friends and a loving family. Most of her spare time was spent with her husband of 48 years, their son, and the grandchildren she so dearly loved. She was blessed with a twin sister with whom she shared a very special bond that began before they were born. She was an avid gardener and loved to fish. She enjoyed playing bridge and entertaining her friends and family. Married to Ellison Morris Sr. of the home, she leaves a son whom she adored, Richard E. (Amie) Morris Jr., and two cherished granddaughters, Jane Ellison and Maeve Morris. Her twin sister, Nelda (Andy) Fowler, of Florence, SC, sister, Polly Poston of Florence, SC, brother, Jimmy L. (Linda) Poston of Thompson, GA, and sister-in-law, Vonnie P Poston of Thompson, GA, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, Willard C."Buster" Poston Jr. and Rev. Tommy Poston. The family wishes to thank her wonderful friends who gave their loving care and support throughout her four-year battle with cancer and also the incredible staff and physicians of the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC Funeral service will be held at Hemingway First Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will follow in Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, SC 29555. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 at Hemingway First Baptist Church, located at 200 E. George Street, Hemingway, SC 29554. In lieu of flowers. memorials may be made to the Elaine Morris Kitchen Fund of First Baptist Church, PO Box 485, Hemingway, SC 29554.
