MARVIN S. LEWIS Jr.
LAURINBURG, N.C. -- Marvin "Shaw" Lewis Jr., 58, of Laurinburg, and formerly of Sumter, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Laurinburg, officiated by the Rev. C.H. McDowell and the Rev. Rick Hodges. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
Shaw was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Sumter, son of Marvin Shaw Lewis Sr. and Frances Newman Lewis. He was a dedicated employee of Eaton Corp., retiring after 35 years of service. He was also the owner of Shaw's Farm, where he loved being a turkey farmer. He served as a longtime, faithful member of First Baptist Church of Laurinburg.
He will be remembered in love and cherished by his wife, Gay Averitt Lewis of the home; his sons, Marvin Shaw Lewis III and wife, Lyn, of Laurinburg and Myles Johnson and wife, Maris, of Greenville, N.C.; his daughter, Dianna Graves and husband, Bill, of Laurinburg; his parents, Marvin Lewis Sr. and Frances Lewis of Laurinburg; his brother, Doug Lewis and wife, Connie, of Cape Carteret, N.C.; his sisters, Josie Cunningham and husband, Phil, of Laurinburg and Pandy Munger and husband, James, of Gibson, N.C.; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jack, Natalie and Little Knowlton; many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Richard Boles Funeral Home.
