| HIST | of St. George, South Carolina of the home Gwendolyn H. Windham ST. GEORGE — Gwendolyn Annette Hatfield Windham, 91, widow of Charles Edmond Windham Jr., of St. George, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Life Care Center of Charleston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Clay Shook officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Sumter. Visitation was held Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, 607 N. Parler Ave., St. George. Mrs. Windham was born July 23, 1922, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Arthur Julius Sr. and Addie Cato Hatfield. She was a graduate of Sumter High School and Limestone College. She taught elementary school in Mullins and Sumter, then at Grace Baptist Church kindergarten. She and her husband were former members of Grace Baptist Church in Sumter before moving to St. George in 1970. She was a faithful and very active member and held many positions at Memorial Baptist Church and her WMU Circle groups. She and her husband were life members of Clemson University IPTAY and gracious supporters of numerous churches, missions and institutions of higher learning. She was predeceased by siblings, Myron E. Hatfield, Arthur J. Hatfield Jr. and Anna Ruth Hatfield Muldrow. Surviving are two sons, Larry Dwayne (Herschell Auten) Windham Sr. of St. George and Wyatt Edmond Windham of Augusta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Larry D. (Sarah Lyles) Windham Jr. of St. George and Emily Windham (Brennan) Dees of Fitzpatrick, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Asa Charles Windham, Evie Eleanor Windham, Brely Ella Dees, and Bailey Kate Dees; a brother, Aubrey (Betty) Hatfield Sr.; and a sister, Priscilla (Clarence) DuBose, all of Sumter. A special thank you to her beloved caregiver, Gertrude Jenkins of Reevesville, and all the staff from Horizon Health Services and Life Care Center of Charleston.
