Singleton Jr. Jesse Mason Singleton Jr., 86, widower of Shirley Coker Singleton, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Jesse M. Singleton Sr. and Pauline Weir Singleton. Mr. Singleton was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a former Sumter School District 17 school teacher and a retired taxidermist. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was a resident of Solomon’s Home for many years. Surviving are two brothers, W.B. Singleton of Belton and Tony Singleton of Manning; devoted family and friends, Eddie and Phyllis Skey, Jim and Keleigh Johnson, Eddie and Renee Skey, Daryle Skey, Francis and Gloria Norris, Phil and Melissa Norris and Marie Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Singleton, and two brothers, Richard Singleton and Charlie Singleton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Atkinson and the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Glass, Tom Bochette, Bill Coleman, Francis Norris, Phil Norris, Eddie Skey and Daryle Skey. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jim and Keleigh Johnson.
