MILLER Posted Thursday, May 25, 2017 6:00 am John Charles Miller, 70, husband of the late Annie Mae Oxendine Miller, died on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Born Jan. 20, 1947, in Morristown, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Vernon R. and Doris P. Miller. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. He was formerly employed as a police officer in Morristown and at Sumter Casket Co. Along with his wife, he owned and operated several thrift stores in the Sumter community and was a longtime vendor at the Sumter Flea Market. Survivors include three sons, James Joseph Miller, John Robert Miller and Kevin Whitmore, all of New Jersey; two daughters, Denise M. Treglio of Kansas and Luann Oxendine Holliday of Sumter; a brother, David R. Miller (Marsha) of Alcolu; a sister, Sharon Ann Miller of Sumter; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. There will be a time of visitation and celebration of John's life from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at his home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
