  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina JOSEPHINE RAY McDONALD Josephine "Jo" Ray McDonald, age 75, beloved wife of Charles E. McDonlad, died on Monday, March 8, 2010, at her residence. She was born in Sumter County, a daughter of the late Martin Sr. and Martha Hood Ray. Mrs. McDonald retired from Exide Battery after 11 years. She was a member of Springbank Baptist Church. Her family and friends will sorely miss her. Surviving are two sisters, Loretta Ray VanLiew of Santee and Pearl Ray Corcoran of Sumter. Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her prior husband, Bobbie Ray; three brothers, Martin Ray Jr., Bufort Ray and Floyd Ray; and two sisters, Melissa Ray Benenhaley and Della Ray Osborne. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Miller officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Mike Benenhaley, Bobby Benenhaley, Chris Benenhaley, Timothy McMickell, Herbert Buckner and Greg Ray. You may sign the family's online guest book at www.bullockfuneralhome.com.
