R. WESLEY McCUTCHEON
LAKE CITY -- R. Wesley McCutcheon, 71, husband of Janice Kirby McCutcheon, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence.
Born May 20, 1937, in Lake City, he was a son of the late Rev. Walter R. McCutcheon and the late Rev. Lila Williams McCutcheon. He was a 1955 graduate of Lake City High School and a graduate of Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science in Dallas. He was a retired funeral director and former owner of Lake City Funeral Home, a salesman for Brown Memorials in Florence, a South Carolina National Guardsman, and a member of Lake City First Baptist Church. Wesley was former president of the Jaycees, former chairman of the Lake City Tobacco Festival and a Mason.
Surviving besides his wife of Lake City are two daughters, Annette M. Patterson (Steve) of Chapin and Gloria "Dawne" McCutcheon of Lake City; a son, Richard Wesley "Richie" McCutcheon (Pam) of Lake City; a brother, Thurston G. McCutcheon (Joyce) of Lake City; and six grandchildren, Drew Curry, Lila Patterson, Zach Patterson, Andrew Patterson, Wes McCutcheon and Will McCutcheon.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lake City Memorial Park. The Rev. James W. McKenzie officiated.
Pallbearers were David Godwin, Larry Godwin, Don Kirby, Glen Kirby, Dan Barnette, and Fritz McElveen.
The family received friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
