Elizabeth Rebecca Trowell Bryan, 91, widow of G. Werber Bryan, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at a local nursing home. Born in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late Johnathan Trowell and Pretto Hiers Trowell. Mrs. Bryan was a member of First Baptist Church in Sumter and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Limestone College, where she served on the Board of Trustees for 18 years. She was a member of the Sumter Genealogical Society and the DAR. She was also a retired Sumter County Home Demonstrator with the Sumter County Extension Agency. Surviving are three daughters, Andrena "Betsy" Bryan Miguez and husband, John, of Lafayette, La., and their children Michael Bryan Miguez, Matthew Roland Miguez; Susan Bryan Adams and husband, Frank, of Menlo Park, Calif., and their son, Johnathan Werber Adams; and Cornelia Bryan Zell and husband, Brian, of Larchmont, N.Y., and their children Rebecca Rose Zell and William Werber Zell; and one son, Johnathan Werber Bryan and his wife, Jane Etta, of Sumter and their children Frederick Werber Bryan, Rosaria Caroline Bryan, Nelson Dion O'Quinn, Josephine Dion Redmond, Grace Margaret Dion; and their granddaughter Eloise Adams O'Quinn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Gould officiating. A reception will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall. A private burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
