| HIST | John joined Gen Marions Brigade at the age of 14 years, and was present at the Battle of “Monck’s Corner”, “Tynes’ defeat” and “Eutaw.” He saved the life of Captain W. R. Davis from the up lifted sword of a Britton, and captured and delivered two chargers’ to General Marion. After the Rovolution he married Mary Mitchell, and became a member of the Methodist E. Church and died in the full hope of a blissful immortality, leaving nine children to review his memory and imitate his example. [1] | |
