World War II Master Sgt. U. S. Air Force, 21 years He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the elite group known as Rogers’ Rangers. He fought with the 9th Army, the 11th Cavalry and then went into Bastogne with Patton’s 3rd Army to the Battle of the Bulge. Following the Battle of the Bulge, he stayed with the 3rd Army and marched across Europe in the Allies’ successful campaign to end World War II. He received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor and service to his country. Following World War II, he joined the U. S. Air Force and retired after 25 years service as a senior master sergeant. [6, 8] |
