Born on Oct. 27, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Frank and the late Newell Faulling Floyd. She loved animals and helping to raise funds for animal rescues and shelters. Survivors include three children, Allison McElveen of Sumter, Dean McElveen (Brittany) of Wedgefield and Ashley Long (Eric) of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Mary-Michal, Olin, Caden, Aubreah, Colton, Cash, Amelia and Andey; two brothers, Eddie Floyd of Columbia and Phillip Floyd of Florida; two sisters, Linda Floyd of Summerton and Julie Berry of Manning; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Thornton and Jackie Urquhart. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Eric and Ashley Long, 495 E. Brewington Road, Sumter. Memorials may be sent to the Sumter SPCA, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.  [1, 2, 3]
