PINEWOOD - Mary "Polly" Bertha English McLeod, 87, widow of Jim H. "Jimmy" McLeod, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at her home.
Born on March 18, 1930, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Ella Bertha Huggins English. She was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Pinewood.
Survivors include sons, Larry "Butch" McLeod (LaNelle) of Sumter, Jesse E. McLeod (Margie), Jim Henry McLeod Jr. (Kathy) and Mark A. McLeod, all of Pinewood, and Stanley E. McLeod (Mechele) of Greenville; daughters, Shirley A. Walton of Sumter, Louise Geddings (A.L.) of West Columbia and Joy Clemmons (Jackie) of Pinewood; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; son-in-law, Bobby Walton; daughter-in-law, Bonnie McLeod; grandsons, Jason Walton and Skyler Johnson; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. F. Arthur Sharpe and the Rev. Dale Turner officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cameron McLeod, C.J. McLeod, Tyler McLeod, Cole Walton, Shane Walton and Wade Walton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Brown, Adam Bunce, Davis Clemmons, Jackson Clemmons, Trevor Christmas, Steve Christmas, Stephen Johnson, Steve Johnson, Hunter McLeod, Westley Osteen, Brian Sulser, Eric Sulser, Blane Walton and Randy Wright.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times after 5 p.m. at Cypress Creek Clubhouse, 5520 Bethel Church Road, Pinewood.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers, Louise Brookshire, Jesse Lusk, Lora Lee Osborne, Sellarhea Jordan and Rhonda Hackler as well as Amedisys Hospice nurses, Michelle Baker and Stephanie Mitchell, for all of their loving care and compassion.
