Brown (Brown), died Friday, June 27, 2008, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born Sept. 17, 1915, in Paxville, he was a son of the late Charlie Thomas and Cornelia May Ridgill Brown. He was a retired automotive parts salesman and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served during the Battle of the Bulge as a T-5 in anti-aircraft. He was a member of Manning United Methodist Church, St. Peter's Masonic Lodge 54, American Legion Williams-Burgess Post 68, VFW Post 6093 and the DAV. He is survived by a son, Ron Brown Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Isabelle Holladay Brown and Neal Mahoney and her husband, Donnie, of Manning; a brother, Charles Brown of Charleston; three sisters-in-law, Sara Margaret Vassar of Manning, Desi Brown of Taylors and Delma Brown of Columbia; three grandchildren, Mary Howton, Marie Powell and Donald Mahoney; and four great-grandchildren, Sean Hutto, Kathryn Hutto, Hawkins Powell and Byers Powell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Brown. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Manning United Methodist Church with the Rev. Debra Quilling Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence, 512 Rudy Road, Manning. My parent were Harriet Cornelia Brown and Baxter Theron Brown. My aunt Sara Margaret Brown Vassar passed away 28 October 2011 at her home in Manning, South Carolina. She was married to Thomas Eli Vassar, Sr. (30 June 1920 - 6 April 2006) on 29 March 1935 in Florence, South Carolina. Thomas Eli Vassar, Sr. My grandparents also had 3 sons, Edward Bunyan Brown, Jr. (16 November 1908 - 5 April 1977). He was married twice, one daughter, one son. Francis Marion Brown (15 December 1910 - August 1982) married once, 2 daughters. And Wilson DuRant Brown (3 December 1913 - 4 September 1992) married once, 3 sons. My sister, Neal, is named Cornelia Anna "Neal" Brown and is married to Donald Wayne "Donnie" Mahoney. My brother Ron is Baxter Theron "Ron" Brown, Jr. I was married to Jerrel Wade "Jerry" Howton. We divorced in 1993 and I took back my maiden name. Mary Elizabeth Howton is my daughter. She was married to Glenn Christopher Hutto. They are divorced and she took her maiden name back. Sean Edward Hutto and Kathryn Hutto are their children. Marie Powell is Anna Marie Mahoney, she married Steven James Powell, and their sons are Steven Hawkins Powell and James Byars Powell. Donald Wayne Mahoney, Jr. is the son of my sister Neal and brother-in-law Donnie Mahoney. He has never married. My brother Ron was married to Karen Michele Patterson.
