Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome J.A. Bishop are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 5 St. Teresa Dr. Charleston, SC 29407. Mr. Bishop was born in Charleston on Sunday, July 8, 1934, a son of Jerome Joseph Albert Bishop and Marguerite Patricia Helander Bishop. He attended St. Andrew's Elementary, Bishop England and Murray Vocational School and was a retired Machinist and Nuclear Refueler at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Bishop was a life member of the Charleston Rifle Club, a member of the Charleston Yacht Club, the Elk's Club, the U.S. Coast Guard US, the S.C. Genealogy Society, the National Genealogy Society, the S.C. Historical Society and the Charleston Organ Club. Mr. Bishop honorably served our country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and the U.S. Air Force in Korea. Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Marguerite McLaughlin Scott Bishop; his stepchildren, Dr. Marguerite Scott Raaen and her husband, Eric, Winfield F. Scott and his wife, Betty Ann and Michael M. Scott and his wife, Tracie Ellen; five step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and his brother, Eugene Bishop. Arrangements by JAMES A.
