Margaret Elizabeth Griffin and Michael John Schriffen were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Church of the Holy Comforter, Sumter. The bride is the daughter of Susan Walker Griffin of Sumter and the late O.R. "Riney" Griffin, and the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. R. Murdoch Walker, the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Beatson and the late O.R. Griffin. She graduated from Ashland High School, Ashland, Ohio, Winthrop University with a bachelor of arts in dance education and Florida State University with a master of fine arts in choreography and performance. She is employed as an instructor of dance at Winthrop University and Westminster Arts Academy, Rock Hill. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy John Schriffen of Myrtle Beach, and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Francis Kearns and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Schriffen, all of New Hyde Park, N.Y. He graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and Winthrop University with a master's degree in education. He is employed as a third-grade teacher at Providence Spring Elementary School, Charlotte, N.C. The Rev. Dr. John MacReadie Barr and the Rev. Marcus Kaiser officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by John Gilbert, S.M.M., organist; Jeff Centracchio, bagpiper; and Kipper Ackerman, harpist. Stephanie Milling served as lay reader and Sara Louise Cromer as acolyte. Given in marriage by her brother, O.R. "Trey" Griffin III, the bride wore an ivory Allure gown featuring an intricately beaded halter top, a modified A-line and organza overlay chapel train. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies. Susan Griffin Fisher served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Mlot Cargill, Teri Reames Griffin, Kathleen Wessel and Mindy Harvey O'Brien. Junior bridesmaid was Ariel Elizabeth Fisher, with Olivia Caroline Fisher as flower girl. Joseph John Schriffen, twin brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Timothy John Schriffen Jr., brother of the bridegroom, Daniel Huntsberger, Fredrick Karl and James McCormack. The reception was held at the home of the bride's mother. The rehearsal party was given by the bridegroom's parents at Hamptons. Following a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
