Moses and his wife, Mary, with their family, emigrated from Ireland to America about the year, 1742. They were originally from the West of Scotland. It is thought there were seven sons of this union, who settled first in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, from thence they came South, some of them halting in North Carolina, and others pushing on to the Waxhaws in Lancaster County, South Carolina. The settlement in the Waxhaws was probably made about 1750 to 1756. Members of the White family were active in settling the upper part of South Carolina. [2] |
