- Nena (Boston) Taggert received a letter from the Governor of Arizona
when Nettie Virginia (Gordon) Boston died. The letter said:
My Dear Mrs. Taggert:
Please permit me to express my sincere condolences on the passing of
your mother, Mrs Nettie Boston.
She was one of Arizona's real pioneers, whose ranks are rapidly
thinning. There remain only a comparatively few of the sturdy pioneers
who came to Arizona a lifetime ago. They laid the foundation for the
greatness of our state and the comforts which our people now enjoy. The
present generation owes them a deep debt of gratitude and appreciation.
With kindest regards, I am
Sincerely,
Sidney P. Osborn
10 NOV 1995 Nena was a daughter of George and Nettie Boston.
She had been married twice before John Taggart, who was a taxi driver, and a really nice person. They lived next door to us on 7th St., Aunt Nena was a waitress for awhile at Casey's, around the corner from us on Washington St.
She had two children by privious marriage(s): a stillborn son, and a daughter Charlotte who died in a housefire at a very young age. I believe Charlotte's father was Clarence Shindlebower. The babies were born in the 1920's.
15 NOV 1995: Per note I jotted down during phone conversation with Trena a few years age: "Charlotte is buried where 'Papa' is" (Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix).
Nena's other (?!) Son also buried there, Baby's Doctor was drunk and almost lost Nena and Baby.
Nena died 15 APR 1963, in Phoenix.
John Taggart died 27 FEB 1960 in Phoenix.
