Wingate Sarah Lillian Wingate, 83, widow of Willie W. Wingate, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, in Savannah, Ga. Born in Darlington, she was a daughter of the late Watson F. and Margaret S. Cutter Barwick. Mrs. Wingate was a member of First Baptist Church and the Salvation Army. Surviving are two sons, William Wingate of Myrtle Beach and Donald Wingate of Savannah; two brothers, Watson Barwick and Joseph Barwick, both of Sumter; two sisters, Virginia Lambert and Betty Lambert, both of Lamar, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wingate. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
