Later in life she married a man with the surname Poe, of Myrtle Beach, SC. She ran a motel named "Holman's Harbor." She lived in three centuries: 1900's, 2000's and 2100's. She married my father, George B. Salley in 1920-1921. They were divorced in 1935 in a court in Augusta, GA. My father was later married to my mother, Martha Helen Council. Walter always called Ms. Holman Mother. He came to live with my father and this lady, at the age of 4 years, when my father heard that his parents and two siblings had died of meningitis, and Walter was rescued by a very brave black family living nearby. Walter was a CPA, and founded a successful firm. He was always a "big brother" to my brother and me. Walter was never adopted, but changed his name from Walter Edmond Bair to Walter Bair Salley, by a court order in Orangeburg, SC, when he joined the Navy in about 1944 or 1945.
