| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina 2884 Southgate Drive at death- she had 2 grandsons who preceded her in death- Stanley Geddings and infant son of Iris Smith Ruby White Ruby Hudson Geddings White, 96, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Hattie Shorter Hudson. Mrs. White was twice married, first to the late Troy Geddings and then to the late Rev. W.T. White. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithful Christian. She was instrumental in organizing Calvary Church of the Nazarene in 1949, where she was a charter member. She served as Sunday school superintendent, missionary president, and Sunday school teacher of all ages from children to adults, and she taught the ladies' Bible class for 23 years. She was a dedicated Christian example and will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survivors include a son, Earl Geddings (Jean) of North Carolina; two daughters, Nell McGee (Cody) and Iris Smith (Sylvester), both of Sumter; two stepsons, Michael White (Barbara) of Sumter and Ray White (Kathy) of Ohio; two grandchildren, Deryll Geddings and Angela Larkins (Mike); three great-grandchildren, Megan Geddings, Stephanie Floyd (Colin) and Morgan Larkins; two great-great-grandchildren, Logan Mitchum and Isabella Aviles; five sisters, Lila Elmore of Darlington, Ida Geddings of Camden, Trudie McLeod of Sumter, Docia Keech of Texas and Mildred Lumpkins of Tennessee; and a brother, J.T. Hudson of Pinewood. She was preceded in death by a son, Shirley Edward Geddings; two grandsons, Stanley Geddings and infant son of Iris Smith; a granddaughter, Julie Snyder; two sisters, Mae Rodgers and Ruth Rodgers; and a brother, Marvin Hudson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Arthur Sharpe, the Rev. G.W. Harrell and the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Murray Geddings, Mike Larkins, Colin Floyd, Wayne Rodgers, Charles Hinson and James Hudson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2884 Southgate Drive. Memorials may be made to Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 4235 Nazarene Church Road, Sumter, SC 29154. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
