OVERTURF LEXINGTON -- Mildred "Mickey" Bradford Jennings Overturf, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Presbyterian Communities, Lexington. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel at the Presbyterian Home in Lexington. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held. Born in Sumter in 1923, she was a daughter of the late Lessie Jones Bradford and Ashby William Bradford. A graduate of Sumter High School and Draughons Business College, she worked more than 30 years in accounting at the S.C. Tax Commission and S.C. ETV, until retirement in 1988. Surviving are her children, Ellen Jennings Gower and her husband, Roger, of Greenville, Robert Shannon Jennings and his wife, Charlene, of Warsaw, N.C.; grandchildren, Alison Rubinas and her husband, Curt, Brad Gower and his wife, Meredith, Todd Gower, Laurel Gower, Shannon Jennings and Laura Jennings; and great-granddaughter, Emerson "Emma" Rubinas. She was predeceased by husbands, Thomas Shannon Jennings in 1968 and Thomas Overturf in 1982; a brother, Ashby Bradford; and a sister, Eleanor Grantham. Mrs. Overturf was an active member of Shandon Presbyterian Church, the Ray Riddle Sunday School Class and her church circle. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina, Employee Appreciation Fund, 700 DaVega Drive, Lexington, SC 29073 or to Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina Resident Aid Fund.
