He was a native of Edgefield county, but had been a citizen of Sumter county for more than 40 years. He was well known throughout the county and was active and influential figure in local politics during the 90s. He was elected county supervisor in 1898 and served two terms. He is survived by his widow, six sons and two daughters. The funeral services will be held at Bethel Church, Oswego at 11o'clock Wednesday morning.
