| HIST | of Turbeville, South Carolina GLADYS W. BUDDIN Posted Friday, March 16, 2018 6:00 am Gladys Watts Buddin, 90, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018, at her home in Turbeville. Born on May 20, 1927, in rural Clarendon County, she was one of 14 children of Edmond B. and Annie Bell Robison Watts. Mrs. Buddin began a life with her husband at the young age of 18 and devoted her life to taking care of him. Over 72 years, they built a life together hand in hand. From being the wife of a soldier to being the wife of a construction worker, she stood side-by-side with the love of her life and became beloved figures in her small community. Together they raised five children and loved them unconditionally, making sure each was raised in the church to know the love of Christ. She had a love for people and lived to serve others. No one who entered her home was treated as a stranger. Sunday dinner resembled a family reunion, where many of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would gather around the table and enjoy her home-cooked meals. There was always enough food for even the most unexpected guest who always was invited to go through the line first. She made sure everyone had fixed their plate before she ever sat down to enjoy her own. She loved her family, friends, church and community. All who entered her home and kitchen were welcomed as a part of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Turbeville, the Dicey Gibbons' Circle, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 132, and former director of the WMU Turbeville FBC. She was a retired seamstress from Turbeville Manufacturing and later Turbeville Sportswear. She passed away peacefully surrounded by countless family and friends under the loving care of Amedisys Hospice, Michelle Baker, Tanya Smith and caretaker, Diane McFadden. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, James, Othell, Franklin, E.B. Jr. and John Milton Watts; and sisters, Lorena Nesbitt and Mildred Green. She leaves behind: her spouse of 72 years, Silas Bruce Buddin; sons, Ronnie (Candee) of Turbeville, Mike (Faye) of Irmo and Tony (Pat) of Sumter; daughters, Margie Edge of Turbeville and Anna Buddin of Turbeville; grandchildren, Stevie, Kasey Holmes (Wayne), Dustin (Molly), Jamie (Edward) Carmon, Nicole (Brian) Craft, Michelle, Eddie (Danielle), Timmy (Katie), Sarah (Brandon) Caples, Megan, Kyndal (Chris) Moore, Will Mullen, Chris (Teress) Edge and Crystal Miller; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchild; brother, Wyman (Grace) Watts; sisters, Elma Prescott, Sarah Bell (Loy) Hendrix, Libby (J.H.) Moore and Patsy (Bill) Aburn; sisters-in-law, Ruby Watts, Joyce Watts and Uldean Watts; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Tricia Clark and Judy Coker-Williams. The family will receive guests from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church, 1020 Morris St., Turbeville, before the funeral services at 4 p.m. on Saturday and other times at the home, 1048 Coker St., Turbeville.
