"Tommy" Rogers Sr., went to heaven peacefully early Thursday morning, Feb. 3, 2022, at NHC Healthcare. Born on Sept. 7, 1932, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Cade and Mary Ellen Hatchell Stokes. She was a faithful member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She retired as the office manager of Boyle Motor Co. after 35 years of service. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kay Billig (David); a son, Thomas J. "Jim" "Tucky" Rogers Jr.; three grandchildren, Philip Johnson, Ashley Sharpe (Daniel) and Amy Terry (Nick); nine grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, George Stokes, Lawton Stokes, Talbert Stokes, Otto Stokes, Mae Bell Stokes Gause and Gordon Stokes. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Johnson, the Rev. Jimmy Holley and the Rev. Billy Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Northside Memorial Baptist Church, 1004 N. Main St., Sumter, SC 29153.
