Born Jan. 7, 1960, in Fairbanks, Alaska, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Olin Guess Sr. and the late Erma Lee Compton Guess. She was a retired sales clerk for Walmart and a member of Jefferson Road Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of Sumter; a son, Justin Allen Brogdon (Brooke) of Sumter; two stepdaughters, Ruby Jean Edwards and Barbara Joann Bradley, both of Sumter; a brother, Leroy Olin Guess Jr. of Sumter; a sister Rebecca Pavlas (Jack) of Flatonia, Texas; and three grandchildren, Audrey Laney Brogdon, Taylor Monique Brogdon and Joseph Tyler Brogdon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Medlin. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at noon until time of service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Jefferson Road Free Will Baptist Church, 999 Jefferson Road, Sumter.
