Grover Mary Emma McGee Grover, 90, of Salisbury, N.C., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Autumn Care of Salisbury. Mary was born on April 22, 1922, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Ernest R. and Lilly Jane Cooker McGee. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, William Bertie “Levi” Grover, on May 19, 2010. Mary is also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mary is survived by her son, Bill Grover, and wife, Marilyn, of Columbia; daughter, Joan Bowen of Salisbury; sisters Elmaree Overstreet and Sybil Browder of Sumter; grandchildren, Danny Bowen and wife, Evelyn, of Richfield, N.C., Beth Stubbs of Landis, N.C., Sharron Anderson and husband, Rick, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Mary Grover and Alex Grover, both of Columbia; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Sumter. It will be conducted at 2 p.m. by Kenneth Prater, associate pastor of Bethel Baptist Church of Rockwell. Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Grover family.
