Thomas Print Posted: Thursday, April 7, 2011 6:00 am LAKE CITY - Rhunette Gibbons Thomas, 80, widow of Ralph Hubert Thomas, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the home of her granddaughter in Lake City. Born April 29, 1930, in Turbeville, she was a daughter of the late James Andrew and Susan Carrie Wallace Gibbons. She was the owner and operator of Thomas Grocery and a member of Turbeville First Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Ed Thomas of North Myrtle Beach and Randy Thomas of New Zion; a daughter-in-law, Dale Thomas of Alcolu; two brothers, Roscoe Gibbons and Robert Gibbons, both of Kingstree; five sisters, Dorothy Gaskins of Virginia, Johnnie Mae Baylor of Bonneau, Josephine Self of Oklahoma, Beatrice Boyd of Andrews and Frances Haigler of Lake City; four grandchildren, Mandee Vancil (Mark) of Lake City, Tim Thomas (Jennifer) of Pawleys Island, and Mickey Thomas and Will Thomas, both of Alcolu; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Thomas of Pawleys Island and Marlee Vancil of Lake City. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angie Welch; and two sons, Donald Thomas and R.T. Thomas. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Turbeville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Lowder officiating assisted by the Rev. Dr. Robert Craven. Burial will follow in Turbeville First Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, 106 Derby Lane, Lake City. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N.
