| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina MARTHA D. EURE Posted Sunday, December 13, 2015 6:00 am Martha Davis Eure, 91, widow of H. Lang Eure, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at her home. Born in Sumter, July 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. Davis Sr. and Mary Sue Sproles Davis. Mrs. Eure was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. She was educated in the Sumter schools and attended Flora Macdonald College, Red Springs, North Carolina, and University of South Carolina. She was a stenographer with the Veterans Administration in Columbia. Surviving are two nieces, Mary Winn Nelson of Taylors and Pam Davis of Mt. Pleasant; and one nephew, Harry (Inky) A. Davis III of Manning. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years; an infant sister; and her brother, Dr. Harry A. Davis Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Dr. Wilson Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery Nephews Gus Davis, Ross Nelson, Chris Nelson, Dan Rockefeller, along with family friend, Mike Watson, will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home, Mary Sue Sproles Davis Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648. Online condolences may be sent to www.sumtefunerals.com.
