CHARLES LEGRAND BAKER Posted Saturday, November 7, 2020 6:00 am Charles LeGrand Baker, 80, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, at the home of his sister. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late William Clyde Baker and Minnie Inez Mathis Burwood. Mr. Baker was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God Church and was a retired textile worker. He loved flying. He was a very good handyman and was considered a "jack of all trades." Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl Lynne Baker of Hartsville; a sister, Sylvia Eloise Floyd of Sumter; one grandchild, Susan Michelle Kalpakci of Fountain Inn; three great-grandchildren, Christian, Yasemin and Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Ruth Floyd. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Green Acres Assembly of God Church, 537 Lewis Road, Sumter, SC 29154 or to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2229, Sumter, SC 29151.
