SHIRLEY H. McLEOD
Shirley Harris McLeod, 73, widow of William E. "Gene" McLeod, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at her home.
Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Harris and Maurine Garner Harris Wactor. Mrs. McLeod was a member of Lakeside Outreach Ministries and formerly of Pinewood Baptist Church and Calvary Church of the Nazarene. She lived a Christian life and was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked for more than 10 years in the composing department of The Item.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy McLeod of Sumter and Judy Wadford (Tommy) of Horatio; a son, Michael McLeod (Gina) of Norcross, Ga.; five grandchildren, Sabrina Barnhill, Brent Barnhill, Angi McLeod, Laurie Barnhill and Courtney Barnhill; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Barnhill, Madison Barnhill and Brayden Barnhill.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Mansfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Arthur Sharpe, Kenneth Griffin, G.W. Harrell, and Jack Barkley officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry McLeod, Jesse McLeod, Henry McLeod, Cliff McLeod, Little Lee McLeod, and Thomas Geddings.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral home and other times at the home.
