  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina Ila A. Herrington Ila Atkinson Herrington, 92, widow of James B. Herrington, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at a local nursing facility. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Purdy Atkinson and Lula Logan Atkinson. Mrs. Herrington was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include two grandchildren, DuVon Herrington of Summerton and Lisa Avins (Daren) of Sumter; two great-grandchildren, Laken Austin and Kelsie Austin; one sister, Ruth Weatherford (Marion) of Sumter; and one brother, J.P. Atkinson of Sumter. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Victor VanRas officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. She was preceded in death by a son, James B. "J.B." Herrington. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
