| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina PHYLLIS ARDIS HODGE Posted Monday, February 2, 2026 10:01 am Phyllis Ardis Hodge, 79, wife of Paul M. Hodge, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Pocotaligo River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manning. Born April 16, 1946, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Newell L. Ardis and Hannah Mae Kolb Ardis. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband of nearly 47 years, include three children, Laura Cook (Richard) of Montana, Tom Bochette of Georgia and Bryan Bochette (Wendy) of Paxville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Julie Shadoan (Paul) of Sumter; one brother, Ronnie Ardis of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madeline Nicole Bochette, and a brother, Gerald Ardis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, in Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne McElveen officiating. Burial will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to express their appreciation to her doctors and nurses, the staffs of East Palmetto Transport, Swan Lake Dialysis and Pocotaligo Health and Rehabilitation for the exceptional care they provided.
