| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina At death- he had 5 grandchildren- where to they go? jkh ARNOLD JOSEPH HALL Posted Tuesday, February 1, 2022 6:00 am Arnold Joseph Hall, 95, was received by Our Lord on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Feb. 22, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph Frierson Hall and Rebecca Allen Brown Hall of Ashwood. He was preceded in death by his wives, Margaret McCutchen Hall and Annette Johnson Hall; one sister, Dorothy Parkman; and two sons, John Samuel Hall and Mark Arnold Hall. Mr. Hall was a longtime, devoted member of First Southern Methodist Church. He served as church treasurer and taught the Wesley Sunday School class. He was a strong supporter of Boy's Farm in Newberry. Mr. Hall was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from B.L. Montague Co. and Russell Jeffcoat Realty in Sumter. He is survived by two grateful sons, Joseph Reginald Hall (Tonya) of Sumter and Heyward Allan Hall (Lori) of Loveland, Ohio; he was a beloved "Papa" to his grandchildren, Margaret Angela Carroll (Tim), Leslie Renee DuRant (Stan), Nichole Lynn Fretz (Greg), Joseph Nels Hall (Debra) and Elizabeth Allison Sberna (Joseph); 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Ellison Evans officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Carroll, Mayson Carroll, Austin Williams, Scooter Winfrey and Joseph Hall. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pastor Ellison Evans of First Southern Methodist Church and loving caregiver, Denise Driggers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy's Farm, P.O. Box 713, Newberry, SC 29108 or to First Southern Methodist Church, 321 Miller Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
