| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina BRENDA KAYE HOLLIDAY Posted Saturday, May 20, 2023 6:00 am Brenda Kaye Holliday, age 79, died on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Brenda was born in Sumter, a daughter of the late Roy D. and Minnie M. Holliday. She attended Edmunds High School and Clevenger College. In her younger years, she lived in numerous places, Texas, Ohio, California, Maryland, Massachusetts and then settled in Myrtle Beach. She resided at the beach until her father passed, then moved to Sumter to be a caregiver for 20 years to her mother, until she passed. When coming back to Sumter, she opened her own business, Misty's Ceramics and Gifts. Ceramics and floral arrangements were her passion, along with traveling all over doing craft shows in Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. Brenda, along with several other ladies, formed "The Sumter Crafters Guild," where they had the craft shows at the Sumter Exhibition Center for many years. She was lucky to have been the president of the guild five times and made many friends along the way. When the guild dissolved, she went to work at Walmart and retired from there after 13 years. Miss Holliday was a charter member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church. Being an only child, she leaves behind several cousins in Sumter, Oregon and Georgia, which she dearly loved. Her most precious love was her dog, Chi Chi, whom she loved as her child. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Bishop officiating.
