  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina BERTHA WELCH COKER Posted Tuesday, February 16, 2021 6:00 am Bertha Welch Coker, 91, widow of Edward Rudolph Coker, died on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Sardinia, she was a daughter of the late Lucius Columbus Welch and Rosabell Morris Welch. Mrs. Coker was a member of Sumter Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Edward Coker Jr. (Pam) of Pinewood, and Curtis E. Coker and Danny Ray Coker, both of Sumter; two daughters, Linda Darlene Clemmons (Jackie) and Terry Lynn Collins, both of Sumter; two sisters, Rosa Lee Driggers of Turbeville and Bobbie Jean Cason of Sumter; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline LeVanie; and four brothers, Daniel Welch, Edward Welch, Lonnie Welch and Loren Welch. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Sumter Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Chan officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
