He was born on Feb. 22, 1960, in Portales, New Mexico, the only son of Leona Kavanagh Blaylock and the late retired Master Sgt. Edwin Jerry Blaylock. Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Megan Renee Blaylock and Lauren Nicole Blaylock of the home; his mother of Sumter; his wife's parents, Betty (Eddie) Collake and Roy (Peggy) Dalton of Morristown; sisters, Micheline "Mickey" Wheeler, Kathleen "Kathy" Stafford and her husband, Robbie, of Sumter and Teresa Durden and her husband, Tim, of Lexington; sister-in-law, Kelly Collake Bowen and her husband, David, of Morristown; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was a 1978 graduate of Sumter High School with a full athletic scholarship from Baptist College at Charleston, where he completed his undergraduate degree in business administration and a graduate degree from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee. Jerry was a man of many talents and interests from coaching nationally competitive cross country and track teams at Carson Newman College to owning his own structural drying school to sharing his expertise in the drying industry across the country. Besides his family, Jerry's greatest love was the outdoors and his property on the river, where he spent many hours with his friends and family. Jerry's generosity, loyalty, kindness and sense of humor will be remembered by everyone who knew him. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Manley Baptist Church, 3603 West Andrew Johnson Highway, Morristown.
