Duke MANNING -- William "Bill" Dollard Duke, 74, husband of Melody Roberts Duke, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at his home. Born May 9, 1937, he was a son of the late William Fulton Duke and Clarice Buddin Duke. Mr. Duke was retired from Santee Electric Coop. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Bunny Walters (Eddie) of Columbia and Jan Duke of Kingstree; one brother, Daniel L. Duke (Jeannette) of Kingstree; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Maudeline Duke, Mary Nell Beggs and Betty L. Wert; and his former wife, Pauline Coombs Duke. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Brunson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Ouimette officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Brunson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
