Posted Tuesday, December 19, 2023 6:00 am Thaddeus Patrick Gibbons Jr., 68, husband of Terry Lynn Geddings Gibbons, died on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. Born on May 31, 1955, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Thaddeus P. Sr. and Joycelyn Pierce Gibbons. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Gable Log Homes. He attended Bethesda Church of God. His greatest love was his family. Survivors include his wife of eight years; three daughters, Candice "Candi" Elms of Manning, Ashley Tarantini (Vince) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Crystal Gibbons (Da'Zon Lightsey) of Dalzell; stepchildren, Neal Welch (Candice), Nathan Welch, Craig Welch (Danielle) and Liz Daughrity (J.D.), all of Sumter; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Gibbons (Patricia) of Manning; and three sisters, Linda Shealey, Judy Barker and Sheila Christmas (Sammy), all of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Geddings. A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne McElveen officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
