Prescott, died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the home of her daughter. Born Aug. 27, 1932, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Harley M. Trimnal Sr. and Bertha Stewart Trimnal. She was a member of Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist and organist for many years and was active in the United Methodist Women's Circle. She also served as pianist for Zoar Church for 75 years. She was an avid reader. Mrs. Prescott enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for family and community members. She loved cooking Sunday dinner for her family and baking cookies for her grandchildren. Survivors include two children, Teresa Sandifer (Bobby) and Philip Prescott, both of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Thames (Hugh) of Sumter; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Becky Hubbard (Alan) of Sumter; a brother, William Trimnal (Peggy) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Mel Thompson, the Rev. Jerry Watson and the Rev. Allen Johnson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 475 Boots Branch Road. The family would like to express their appreciation to Carolina Caregivers of Sumter, Amedisys Hospice Care along with her other caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church, 1510 Plowden Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29153; Zoar Church, 1785 Mims Road, Sumter, SC 29153; or St. Jude Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org.
