| HIST | CYNTHIA STEELE-DAVIS Posted Friday, May 26, 2017 6:00 am Cynthia Diane Hicks Steele-Davis, 62, wife of Arvin M. "Buddy" Davis Jr. and widow of John Wayne Steele, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at her home. Born in Carlton, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late James "Jim" Hicks and Mary Buchanan Hicks. She attended Sumter First Church of the Nazarene where she was a Sunday school teacher. She retired from the Department of Agriculture and was the owner of Doodlebugs children's clothing store until her final retirement. Survivors include her husband; one son, Christopher Wayne Steele of Sumter; one daughter, Amanda Peak of Sumter; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one sister, Liz Williams of Sumter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Sumter First Church of the Nazarene, 3700 Patriot Parkway, Sumter. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [4] | |
