• Notes

  As a young man he was engaged in the mercantile business in Alcolu (South Carolina), but came to Sumter in 1904 and became engaged in the automobile business and other interests in Sumter and Columbia, South Carolina. He lived in Decatur, Alabama, for the last 12 years of his life. He died there in 1942 of an unexpected heart attack at the age of 70. [6]
